American Mathematical Society—Fall 2005 Central Section Meeting

University of Nebraska–Lincoln
October 21–23, 2005

Information for Presenters

Please see the AMS guidelines for presenting your talk.

All of the rooms in which talks will be given will have overhead projectors available. Some of the rooms have multimedia equipment. In particular they have a computer and/or a connection for a laptop computer
If you wish to use this equipment to present, you may, but:

  • It is strongly recommended that you have a copy of your talk prepared for use with an overhead projector, just in case.
  • It is recommended that you try out the equipment in the room prior to your talk.

Computing Facilities

There will be computer lab open for the duration of the meeting for use by the participants and there will be guest accounts to use on those machines.

Lab availability

A lab near the registration desk will be open most of the time when the registration desk is open. Open times will probably at least include the following:
  • Friday: 12:30pm to 3:30pm
  • Saturday: 8:45am to 4:00pm
  • Sunday: Not surehttp://unlcms.unl.edu/cas/math/#

Software

The machines in the lab available for use run Windows XP. A brief list of software includes: Internet Explorer and Firefox; Filezilla, ftp client; Putty, a ssh and telnet client.

Wireless accounts

If you bring your computer and it has a wireless connection, you can request a wireless account from UNL.
This can be done ahead of the meeting.
Here is how to request wireless access:
You need to fill in forms on a few separate linked pages (rather than filling in a form on a single page).

The main page is at: wireless home page.
You will be asked to click an appropriate link to take you to: visitor wireless registration.
Again you are asked to go to a link and then the actual page you need in the end to get to is: visitor wireless end registration.
Within a few minutes of submitting the form you'll have 1 month of free access.

Book Sales

Examine the newest titles from the AMS! Many of the AMS books will be available at a special discount available only at the meeting. Complimentary coffee will be served courtesy of AMS Membership Services.

There are many restaurants within walking distance in the downtown area for lunch and dinner as well as the Nebraska Union.
