Driving Directions

Getting to UNL via the Interstate

From I-80 take the Downtown exit I-180 (401A) going south, you will see Memorial Stadium on your left (difficult to miss). As I-180 South ends, it becomes 9th Street in downtown Lincoln. The first intersection you will approach will be 9th and Q Street.

You should get into the far left lane and turn left on P Street (one way), then turn left again on 10th street and work your way over to the farthest right lane on tenth street, so that you can turn right on T street—it comes just after a bend in the road. Then you can go left into a big parking garage. Avery Hall is the three story building on your left (north) at the east end of T street (where the street stops at the campus).

Weather

Weather conditions in Lincoln during October are usually very pleasant, with lows of about 30°F. and highs around 50°F.
Current weather conditions and seven day forecast.

Airport to meeting transportation

As listed above, the Holiday Inn, the Embassy Suites and The Cornhusker have shuttles that run all the times that planes land in Lincoln. The Townhouse shuttle apparently runs only from 9 am to 4 pm. You could alert your hotel ahead of time that you will want the shuttle; otherwise you could call them from the airport. We intend to have people at the airport on Friday up to 3pm greeting meeting participants and assisting with transporting them on Friday in case they are staying at other places.

In addition the Holiday Inn and The Cornhusker have said that if their shuttle is not full, our participants staying at other places can ride their shuttle to the hotel associated with the shuttle. They have assured Marilyn Johnson, the Math Dept staff organizer for the meeting, that they will not leave participants at the airport if they have room to transport them. Participants staying at The Townhouse could easily take the Cornhusker shuttle and walk the few blocks to the Townhouse.

We have not been able to contact the Embassy Suites about this matter yet.

Parking

The closest public parking to the meeting site is found at the Stadium Drive parking garage.

From the Lincoln airport take I-80 to the Downtown exit I-180 (401A) going south. When you enter downtown Lincoln, you will be on 9th street, you will wish to be in the far left lane. Turn left onto P Street; turn left onto 10th Street. You want to be in the far right lane once on 10th Street. After Q Street, you will want to take the second right which is T Street. Entry to parking garage will be to your left. Cost at the time of this printing is $0.45 per 1/2 hour for the first hour; $0.60 per hour thereafter; $5.00 maximum per day.

There are also a number of parking garages within a short walk (5–10 minute) from campus. Haymarket, Market Place, and Que Place are the three closest. For more information please see ParkItDowntown.
