Freshman Eastman Scholarship Form

Incoming first-year mathematics majors who have graduated from a Nebraska high school are invited to apply for the Dean H. and Floreen G. Eastman Scholarship, which can award around $20,000 over a four-year period.  The department awards several of these prestigious scholarships to incoming first-year students with mathematics declared as a major.  This scholarship awards up to $5,000 for the first year at UNL, and students can re-apply every year for up to a total of four years.  After completing an application for admission to NEBRASKA, all incoming first-year mathematics majors are encouraged to apply. The application period for the 2025-26 is open now. Applications are due by January 17, 2025 for full consideration with rolling reviews afterward.

Top candidates for the Eastman Scholarship may be asked to sit for an interview. Would you willing to sit for an in-person or virtual, in-person interview?

Please include the statement "I understand that to receive the Eastman Scholarship I must be enrolled in a College of Arts and Sciences degree program with at least one major in Mathematics." at the end of your application essay. For those who lost the opportunity to complete for a Math Day scholarship at Math Day 2020, please let us know if you feel that you would have placed in the Top 10 during the PROBE Exam competition.
