Research Assistant Professor Amy Been Bennett earned her Ph.D. in Teaching and Teacher Education with a focus on mathematics from the University of Arizona, after which she was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Department of Mathematics. Her work spans multiple research areas in mathematics education, including mathematical modeling at the K-12 level, improvements to teacher preparation courses, active learning in undergraduate STEM courses, and equitable transformations to university programs. Bennett enjoys teaching courses for future and practicing teachers at all levels and mentoring young mathematicians through the various outreach events offered by the CSMCE and Department of Mathematics. Bennett grew up in McCook, NE, attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as an undergraduate, and is excited to once again live in The Good Life state. She enjoys all the cozy homebody activities, like crafting, playing board games, and reading mysteries.
