Megan Fairchild grew up in Austin, Texas, and attended Texas State University, where she earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics. After working for a year as a lecturer at Texas State, she enrolled in a doctoral program at Louisiana State University–Baton Rouge, with an expected completion date of May 2025. Her research interests include topology, specifically knot concordance, 4-manifolds, and topological data analysis. Megan's career goal is to remain in academia, teaching mathematics at the university level and conducting research. Outside of mathematics, she enjoys rock climbing and has a German Shepherd named Lucy.
