Serena J. Lipari is a dedicated tropical cyclone analyst at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). She holds a bachelor’s in mathematics from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island, and two master's degrees: one in environmental science from the same institution and another in applied mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her academic journey is marked by a strong interdisciplinary approach, merging mathematical rigor with environmental science to address complex climate challenges.
Currently, at PNNL, Serena evaluates tropical cyclone risks under various climate scenarios, providing vital insights for regional planning and resilience. Her notable work includes analyzing future risks to offshore wind turbines due to climate change, which is described in a manuscript recently accepted for publication in Nature Portfolio’s Communications Earth & Environment. With extensive experience in statistical analysis, programming, and teaching, coupled with active participation in industry meetings and workshops, Serena brings a comprehensive and practical perspective to her research, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical models and real-world applications.
