Student Funding

The Department of Mathematics has funds designated for undergraduate scholarships to its majors.  In addition, we employ many majors each year in various academic jobs like Course Graders, Math Resource Center Counselors, Learning Assistants, and Teaching Assistants.  We encourage all mathematics majors who are doing well academically to apply or inquire about these opportunities.

Math Department Scholarships

Incoming first-year Mathematics and College of Arts and Science (CAS) Data Science majors who have graduated from a Nebraska high school are invited to apply for the Dean H. and Floreen G. Eastman Scholarship, which can award around $20,000 over a four-year period.  The department awards several of these prestigious scholarships to incoming first-year students with Mathematics or CAS Data Science declared as a major.  This scholarship awards up to $5,000 for the first year at UNL, and students can re-apply every year for up to a total of four years.  After completing an application for admission to NEBRASKA, all incoming first-year Mathematics and CAS Data Science majors are encouraged to apply by clicking the link below. The application period for the 2025-26 academic year is open now. Applications are due by January 17, 2025 for full consideration with rolling reviews afterward.
