What gets you excited about Math?
I get excited when I know there's a way to solve something I just need to be more clever about it. It gives you a nice dopamine rush when you figure out the tricky part of a problem, or you get a proof to work correctly.
Favorite math class or instructor? Why?
I loved Linear Algebra -- it felt like the reward for finishing the calculus series. It was so elegant and satisfying to do. I think that it has a plethora of applications as well which makes it even better to me.
What are you excited about doing after graduation?
I'm really excited at the prospect of graduate school. I'm looking forward to having a more narrowed focus in my classes and getting to teach courses.
What is a goal you have accomplished as a Husker?
I wanted to try mathematical research to see if I would enjoy a PhD. I have worked on two distinct projects.
What do you hope to cross off your “bucket list” in the next few years?
I really want to go to New Zealand and see where Lord of the Rings was filmed.
What do you like about each of your majors?
I really enjoy the challenge of math and how applicable it is to the real world. I do also enjoy my psychology coursework, and I think that psychology gives a great foundation for conducting research.
